On August 24, the cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) market showed impressive momentum: the total net inflow into spot Bitcoin and Ethereum funds reached $337.6 million and $116 million, respectively. However, the key driver of this movement was the giant BlackRock, which accounted for more than 60% of all Bitcoin-ETF inflows.
BlackRock: The Main Beneficiary of Institutional Demand
The company's flagship product, the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), attracted $209 million in a single day, accounting for about 62% of the total inflow into Bitcoin ETFs. This is not a coincidence but a sustained trend: demand for IBIT has remained consistently high for several weeks. Earlier this week, the fund recorded a record inflow of $606 million — the highest figure since May. Total net assets in spot Bitcoin funds have now reached $79.16 billion, highlighting the growing role of ETFs as the primary bridge between traditional finance and cryptocurrency.
At the time of analysis, Bitcoin was trading near the $79,400 mark, confirming that institutional money continues to support the price despite local corrections.
Ethereum ETFs: Sixth Consecutive Day of Growth
A similar picture is observed in the Ethereum segment. BlackRock's ETHA fund attracted $90.92 million out of the total $116 million, accounting for about 78% of all inflows. Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust took second place with $12.5 million. This momentum delivered the largest monthly inflow into Ethereum ETFs in the last 10 months — August has become a landmark month for ether.
Ethereum itself, however, dipped slightly: the coin lost about 2.2% over the day and was trading near $2,473. But this is more of a technical correction than a trend reversal, given the sustained inflow into the funds.
Why BlackRock Is a Systemically Important Player
BlackRock, which manages $15.3 trillion in assets (as of June 30, 2026), has dominated both categories of crypto ETFs since their launch in January 2024. This is not just leadership — it is effectively a monopoly on institutional access to digital assets. The company has become the main channel for large investors who prefer regulated instruments over direct coin ownership.
My conclusion: BlackRock's continued dominance is a signal that the crypto-ETF market is consolidating around a single issuer, which reduces risk diversification for investors. However, for the price of Bitcoin and ether, this is rather a positive factor: the sustained inflow of funds into IBIT and ETHA creates a strong foundation for further growth, even if short-term fluctuations are inevitable. Keep an eye on the volumes — they speak louder than any headlines.
