The largest crypto conference of the year is once again dropping anchor in Asia's financial hub. TOKEN2049 will take place at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands on October 7–8, and the scale of the event is impressive: an expected 25,000 attendees representing more than 7,000 companies from 160 countries. This is not just an industry gathering—it is a key assembly point for the global digital asset market.

The organizers have already revealed the first hundred speakers, and the lineup speaks for itself. The focus is on the transition from retail euphoria to institutional maturity. Among the speakers are Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan, Hyperliquid Labs head Jeff Yan, as well as Nasdaq Chair and CEO Adena Friedman. The presence of Jenny Johnson from Franklin Templeton only confirms the trend: traditional finance is no longer watching from the sidelines—it has become part of the game.

Institutions take the stage

This year's program is clearly tilted toward big capital. Top executives from BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, and Morgan Stanley are expected on site, along with representatives from Nasdaq, NYSE, and CME. This is no coincidence—it is a signal to the market. While retail investors are weathering the volatility, institutional giants are actively building infrastructure for working with digital assets.

TOKEN2049 co-founder Alex Fiskum confirms that the Dubai edition has been postponed to 2027, so all the focus this year is on Singapore. Demand is already enormous: more than 70% of exhibition space has been booked. In the coming weeks, the organizers will introduce new thematic tracks and formats, expanding the institutional part of the program.

Not just a conference: TOKEN2049 week

As part of TOKEN2049 week, more than 1,000 events will take place across the city—from hackathons and conferences to closed investor meetings and networking receptions. Among the flagship events are the second edition of the 36-hour TOKEN2049 Origins hackathon and the return of the NEXUS startup competition, whose finalists will be judged by leading venture funds Dragonfly, Multicoin, and Maelstrom. Applications for both programs are already open.

Against this backdrop, other major forums will also take place: Digital Asset Summit Asia, Sui Basecamp, Network State Conference, as well as the Milken Institute Asia Summit and Forbes Global CEO Conference. All this activity will unfold against the backdrop of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, which adds a special status to the event and will attract even more attention from international media.

Tickets at the early-bird Happy Bird rate are already on sale. Details and registration are available on the official TOKEN2049 Singapore page.

My take: TOKEN2049's return to Singapore with such an emphasis on institutions is not just a conference—it is a marker of a changing era. The cryptocurrency market is finally ceasing to be the "Wild West" and entering a phase of consolidation where what matters is not hype tokens but capital and regulation. If you want to understand where the industry is headed over the next 12 months, this is a must-attend event.
