The crypto treasury of DeFi Development Corp. has once again activated its digital asset accumulation strategy, adding approximately 19,000 SOL to its reserves. The average purchase price was $98.14 per coin, reflecting the company's confidence in the long-term potential of the Solana ecosystem despite current market volatility.
This is the first such transaction since October 2025, making it a significant signal for institutional investors. Following this transaction, the total volume of SOL under DeFi Development Corp.'s management has reached an impressive 2.33 million coins. Notably, part of the funds for the purchase was raised by selling a stake in the ZeroStack project — demonstrating the company's flexible approach to liquidity management and optimization of its investment portfolio.
Long-term holding and staking strategy
The acquired tokens, in my assessment, are not intended for short-term speculative trading. DeFi Development Corp. plans to hold them for the long term and actively use them in staking. This not only provides additional yield in the form of network validation rewards but also strengthens the security of the Solana blockchain, enhancing its decentralization.
The resumption of purchases after a long pause indicates that current price levels are viewed by major players as an attractive entry point. DeFi Development Corp.'s actions could serve as a catalyst for other institutional funds that were waiting for clearer signals of a market trend reversal.
My professional commentary: Such moves by large treasuries are a classic marker of "smart money." Buying at the $98 level with a focus on multi-year holding and staking suggests that the company is hedging risks and betting on the fundamental development of Solana rather than short-term market conditions. In the medium term, this could create additional supply pressure, which would positively impact the asset's price.
