Cybersecurity is once again becoming the main beneficiary of the artificial intelligence boom. CrowdStrike Holdings (CRWD) shares surged 20.5% after the release of quarterly results that not only beat Wall Street expectations but marked a tectonic shift in corporate spending on protection against AI threats.
The company reported revenue of $1.47 billion for the second quarter — up 26% year-over-year and above the analyst consensus forecast of $1.44 billion. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.31 versus the expected $0.29. But that is not the main point. The key metric, net new annual recurring revenue (ARR) from new subscriptions, reached a record $332.8 million, showing 51% growth year-over-year. Total ARR increased 25% to $5.84 billion.
"Mythos Moment": A New Era of Threats
CEO George Kurtz directly linked these results to the so-called "Mythos moment" — the release of an Anthropic model that, according to my data, is actively used to find vulnerabilities in software. This event served as a catalyst that forced corporations worldwide to rethink their priorities in AI security.
Kurtz described what is happening as an "arms race": AI multiplies the power of attackers, which in turn drives up defense spending. His message was crystal clear: "Every major business will work with AI, and its security is the biggest opportunity for us in history."
The financial results confirm this logic. CrowdStrike raised its annual forecast for net new ARR by as much as 630 basis points — to approximately 34% at the midpoint of the range. Expected annual revenue is now estimated at $5.99–6.01 billion.
My view: Here we are witnessing the classic "shovel sellers" effect in the era of a gold rush. While the market debates AI monetization, companies securing this infrastructure are reaping superprofits. And this is not a one-time spike — it is a structural shift that will support the valuations of giants like CrowdStrike for a long time to come. Investors should view cybersecurity not as a cyclical sector but as a fundamental beneficiary of technological evolution.
