Analyzing the latest data on the balances of major holders, I note a significant strengthening of Bitmine Immersion Technologies' position in the Ethereum market. As of August 30, the company had accumulated 5.9 million ETH in its accounts, equivalent to 4.9% of the entire circulating supply of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. This is not just a speculative position — it is a strategic accumulation of the asset.
The average purchase price of these coins was $2,511 per ETH. Given the current market conditions, this suggests that the company entered the asset at relatively comfortable levels, setting a long-term horizon. Notably, 5.06 million ETH of the total volume is already engaged in staking. This demonstrates not only faith in price growth but also a desire to earn additional yield from the network, which reduces the effective cost of ownership.
The total value of crypto assets, including cash and securities, is estimated at $15.6 billion. Such a scale of the balance sheet places Bitmine on par with the largest institutional players shaping the market. For comparison, such a concentration of ETH in one organization has a noticeable impact on liquidity and volatility, especially during periods of market stress.
From my point of view, building reserves to nearly 5% of the supply is a signal that institutional investors continue to view Ethereum as a key asset for diversification. However, risks should be considered: if the company decides to partially lock in profits or faces regulatory pressure, this could trigger short-term downward pressure on the price. Nevertheless, in the long term, such concentration in the hands of professional players is a positive sign for market maturity.
