Institutional players are increasing their positions: Strategy expands BTC reserves, BitMine approaches 5% of Ethereum's issuance target.
While retail investors remain hesitant amid market volatility, the largest corporate players are demonstrating confidence in the long-term potential of digital assets. Over the past week, we witnessed two significant transactions that confirm the strategic appetite of institutions for purchases at current price levels.
Strategy: Another tranche into Bitcoin
Leading corporate Bitcoin holder, Strategy, acquired 1,587 BTC between June 8 and June 14. The transaction amount was approximately $100 million, with an average purchase price of $63,024 per coin. This brought the company's total reserves to an impressive 846,842 BTC. Strategy's cumulative expenditure on accumulating this volume exceeded $64 billion, with an average entry price of $75,656 per Bitcoin. The purchases were financed through equity issuance under the ATM (at-the-market) program. Notably, the company also increased its dollar reserve by $100 million, to $1.1 billion. Thus, Strategy controls about 5.59% of the total circulating supply of the first cryptocurrency.
BitMine: A confident step toward the 5% "alchemy"
In parallel, the largest public Ethereum holder, BitMine, increased its ETH position by 76,881 coins over the week. Its total holdings have now reached 5.62 million ETH, which constitutes approximately 4.66% of the asset's total supply. The company has already completed 93% of its ambitious goal — to control 5% of all Ethereum issuance. BitMine plans to reach this milestone during 2026. It is important to note that over 83% of all the company's ETH (about 4.72 million coins) are already staked, generating a stable annual income of approximately $226 million. BitMine's total cryptocurrency and cash assets are now valued at $10.4 billion, including about $285 million in cash.
Cryptalist Analytics: The actions of Strategy and BitMine are not just bottom-fishing purchases. They demonstrate a structural transformation of the market, where corporate capital uses correction periods to consolidate supply. While the market searches for a bottom, "smart money" is already buying up liquidity. Strategy's purchase at a price significantly below its portfolio's average cost is a powerful signal of faith in BTC's growth above $75,000. For Ethereum, BitMine's pursuit of controlling 5% of the issuance is an unprecedented step that could significantly impact the liquidity dynamics of the second cryptocurrency in the medium term.
