Institutional giants are expanding their crypto reserves: Strategy is buying more Bitcoin, BitMine is purchasing Ethereum.
While retail investors remain hesitant amid market volatility, the largest institutional players continue to confidently increase their positions. The "buy the dip" strategy is being implemented in full force: Strategy has made another major Bitcoin purchase, and mining giant BitMine is actively expanding its Ethereum holdings.
Strategy: Steady growth to 846,842 BTC
According to my analysis, between June 8 and June 14, Strategy acquired 1,587 BTC for approximately $100 million. The average purchase price was $63,024 per coin. This acquisition was financed through the sale of shares under the ATM (At-the-Market) program.
Strategy's total reserves have now reached 846,842 BTC, acquired for a total of $64.07 billion at an average price of $75,656 per coin. Thus, the company controls about 5.59% of the entire circulating supply of Bitcoin. Notably, Strategy simultaneously increased its dollar reserve by $100 million to $1.1 billion, indicating preparation for further purchases.
This purchase occurred amid a short-term rebound of Bitcoin from its cycle low of $59,131 (recorded on June 5) to around $66,500. Despite a 12% rise from the bottom, the asset is still trading nearly 47% below its all-time high of $126,200 set in October 2025.
BitMine: In pursuit of the "5% alchemy"
An even more aggressive strategy is being demonstrated by BitMine, the largest corporate holder of Ethereum. Over the past week, the company added 76,881 ETH to its portfolio, bringing total holdings to 5.62 million ETH. This represents approximately 4.66% of the total supply of the second cryptocurrency.
BitMine has come close to its ambitious goal — the "5% alchemy," i.e., holding 5% of the entire Ethereum supply. According to my estimates, the company has completed about 93% of this path and plans to finish it within 2026. Notably, over 83% of its holdings (about 4.72 million ETH) are already staked, generating approximately $226 million in annual income for the company. BitMine's total cryptocurrency and cash assets have reached $10.4 billion, including about $285 million in cash.
My expert conclusion: The actions of Strategy and BitMine are not just speculative purchases but a clear signal to the market. Both companies demonstrate absolute confidence in the long-term potential of Bitcoin and Ethereum, using the current correction to build up strategic reserves. While retail investors hesitate, "smart money" is voting with capital. The current moment could be one of the last opportunities to enter at attractive prices before the next bull cycle.
