Worldcoin surged 20%: institutional interest drives WLD

On June 15, the Worldcoin (WLD) token surged 21%, reaching around $0.61. Over the past month, the asset has gained more than 154% in price, drawing the attention of the entire crypto community.

Key Catalyst: Accumulation by a Giant

The main driver of the growth is the disclosure of a position by Eightco Holdings. The publicly traded company officially stated that it holds 283 million WLD tokens. This accounts for approximately 8.4% of all coins in circulation. Eightco Holdings' total portfolio is valued at $406 million, and in addition to WLD, it includes over 16,000 ETH and a $90 million stake related to OpenAI.

Such a concentration of assets in the hands of a single institutional player is a unique event for the market. No other public company has previously confirmed holding such a significant amount of WLD. This serves as a powerful signal of confidence in the project from large capital.

Fundamental Logic of the Bet

Eightco's investment in Worldcoin is not just speculation. The company is betting on Proof of Human technology, which aims to solve the problem of identity verification in an era dominated by bots and automated systems. It is estimated that a significant portion of internet traffic and online transactions is already generated by non-humans. Worldcoin, with over 16 million verified users, offers an infrastructure layer for identification.

An additional factor fueling interest in WLD is rumors about a possible IPO by OpenAI. Given the connection between the projects through the concept of artificial intelligence, any positive news flow around OpenAI also reflects on Worldcoin.

Technical Analysis: Bullish Trend in Question

On the daily chart, WLD has broken through the 0.786 Fibonacci retracement level around $0.57 and is now testing a local high near $0.66. A close above this level would open the path for further growth. However, the RSI indicator is forming lower highs against a rising price—a classic signal of bearish divergence, which often precedes a correction.

The nearest support is located at $0.45, with a more reliable level at $0.33. On the hourly chart, the picture is more optimistic: since late May, WLD has been trading within an ascending parallel channel, which was only briefly broken in early June. The RSI on this timeframe is holding former resistance as support.

Expert Opinion: Institutional interest is a powerful catalyst, but the technical picture warns of overheating. As long as the price holds above $0.45, chances for a continued rally remain. However, a drop to $0.33 would signal a pause and a possible correction. Investors should closely monitor volumes—without their growth, the current move risks being a speculative surge.
