This week, London and Tokyo officially formalized their intention to deepen cooperation in this field by signing a document under the UK-Japan Frontier Technology Partnership. The agreement was finalized following a meeting between Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Sanae Takaichi.
The parties intend to jointly develop three key areas: quantum computing, quantum sensors, and quantum communications. Special emphasis is placed on integrating quantum systems with high-performance computing (HPC). Notably, within the context of the agreement, the UK highlighted a specific commercial breakthrough: an export deal by the British company ORCA Computing to Japan.
