Can XRP really reach $1000? An analysis of abnormal growth and forecasts
On Monday, the XRP exchange rate showed a confident increase of 9.3%, reaching a local high of $1.29. This surge occurred against the backdrop of active accumulation of the coin by large holders, which, combined with easing geopolitical tensions, created a powerful momentum for the altcoin. As a result, the market once again turned its attention to a long-standing but by no means forgotten forecast, according to which XRP could soar to an astronomical $1000.
Positive news about diplomatic progress between the US and Iran significantly reduced pressure on risky assets. Investors, tired of uncertainty, began returning to more volatile instruments. Bitcoin rose to approximately $65,300, gold gained about 2%, while oil, on the contrary, lost more than 3% of its value. In this wave of optimism, XRP turned out to be one of the main beneficiaries, settling around $1.22 with a daily increase of 3.25% at the time of preparing the material.
Whales are not sleeping: accumulation at record levels
According to blockchain analytics data, wallets with a balance exceeding 1 million XRP now control a colossal 74.1% of the total market supply. Over the past six months, these "whales" have increased their holdings by approximately 1.53 billion tokens. This indicates enormous confidence among institutional players in the asset's long-term potential, despite recent price declines. Historically, the most powerful XRP rallies were born precisely during moments of total pessimism among retail investors.
Forecast from a former Goldman Sachs analyst: $1000 by 2030
Against this backdrop, the forecast of Dom Kwok, co-founder of the educational app EasyA and a former Goldman Sachs analyst, has once again come to the forefront. He sets a long-term target for XRP at $1000 by 2030. His calculation is based on scenarios of mass adoption and an influx of new users into the crypto ecosystem.
Kwok draws parallels with the era of the internet's birth: the world wide web only became truly mainstream after the emergence of simple and useful services. In his view, the specific nature of the crypto sphere is such that projects launched on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) create value directly for the XRP coin itself, rather than accumulating it within third-party overlays, as is often the case with Ethereum.
The expert also highlights the extremely low penetration rate of cryptocurrencies: currently, only about 7% of the world's population owns them. When the remaining 93% catch up, he argues, they will ignore expensive assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The choice of newcomers, Kwok believes, will fall on XRP due to its affordable price and broad functionality.
My professional view: The scenario of growth to $1000 implies an influx of trillions of dollars into XRP and a market capitalization exceeding $60 trillion. This is only possible with an unprecedented level of global adoption of the XRP Ledger in international finance and commerce. For now, this looks like an extremely optimistic, but not impossible, scenario for the next decade.
