AI Race in Singapore: Claude Rapidly Narrows the Gap with ChatGPT Among Startups

The artificial intelligence market in Singapore is undergoing a rapid transformation. According to my analysis of data from the fintech platform Aspire, Anthropic's Claude is experiencing explosive growth among local startups, narrowing the once-huge lead of OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Over the past year, the number of paying Claude clients in Singapore has increased by 258%, and spending on this platform has grown 17-fold. For comparison: a year ago, OpenAI had more than four times as many startup clients as Anthropic. Today, that gap has narrowed to 1.5 times. Claude's share of total AI platform spending by Singaporean startups has reached an impressive 37%.
This dynamic is particularly notable against the backdrop of overall AI adoption growth in the region. The number of Singaporean startups using artificial intelligence tools has increased by 42%. Meanwhile, the number of companies working with three or more platforms simultaneously has more than doubled. This suggests that startups are not limiting themselves to a single provider but are actively diversifying their AI resources.
Cryptalist Analytics: The sharp rise of Claude is not just a temporary spike but a signal of a fundamental shift in preferences. Anthropic has managed to carve out a niche by offering more specialized and, possibly, safer solutions for businesses. However, OpenAI should not be counted out: their ecosystem and brand remain powerful assets. The race for leadership in Singapore's startup sector is just beginning, and the outcome will depend on both companies' ability to adapt to the unique needs of the local market.
