The AI agent market in Singapore: Anthropic's Claude makes a leap, narrowing the gap with ChatGPT

Singapore's startup sector is demonstrating impressive momentum in artificial intelligence adoption, with Anthropic's Claude emerging as a key player in this process. Analytical data from fintech ecosystem monitoring shows explosive growth in this platform's popularity among local technology companies.

Over the past 12 months, the number of paying Claude customers among Singaporean startups has increased by 258%. Even more indicative is the spending dynamics: the volume of funds allocated to using this AI agent has grown 17-fold. This reflects not just an increase in user numbers, but a significant deepening of Claude's integration into companies' business processes.

A year ago, the picture was fundamentally different: OpenAI, owner of ChatGPT, led Anthropic by more than four times in the number of paying startup clients in Singapore. However, today this gap has narrowed to 1.5 times. Claude's share of total Singaporean startup spending on AI platforms has reached an impressive 37%.

The overall trend is also striking: the number of startups in Singapore actively using artificial intelligence tools has grown by 42%. At the same time, an interesting trend toward multi-platform usage is emerging: the number of companies working simultaneously with three or more AI platforms has more than doubled.

Expert commentary: Claude's growth is not just a statistical anomaly, but a reflection of the market's maturing demand for specialized, more predictable, and secure business solutions. While ChatGPT remains the leader in overall reach, Claude is actively carving out a niche among corporate users who value depth of analysis and reliability. I expect that in the coming quarters, the battle for startup wallets will only intensify, and we will see new price wars and functional updates from both sides.
