AI Race in Singapore: Claude is closing in on ChatGPT, the gap has narrowed threefold

Singapore's startup sector is experiencing a tectonic shift in AI platform preferences. Anthropic's Claude model is seeing explosive growth: over the past year, the number of paying clients among local startups has increased by 258%, and total spending on this service has surged 17-fold. These figures are based on an analysis of transactions from the fintech platform Aspire, which serves over 100,000 companies in the region.

Just a year ago, OpenAI dominated with a huge lead, having more than four times as many paying startup clients as Anthropic. However, today the situation has changed dramatically: the gap has narrowed to 1.5 times. Moreover, Claude's share of total spending by Singaporean startups on AI platforms has reached 37%, indicating deep penetration and trust in this model among entrepreneurs.

The overall trend is also impressive: the number of startups in Singapore actively using AI tools has grown by 42%. At the same time, the number of companies working with three or more platforms simultaneously has more than doubled. This suggests that businesses are no longer relying on a single provider but are forming hybrid AI strategies, choosing the best solutions for specific tasks.

Analytical commentary: Claude's growth in Singapore is not just a statistic but a signal of market maturity. Anthropic has carved out a niche by focusing on safety and contextual accuracy, which is critically important for fintech and B2B startups. If the current pace continues, we could see parity as early as next quarter, followed by a change in leadership in this dynamic region.
