World Liberty Financial is on the verge of obtaining a banking trust license in the United States.

The World Liberty Financial project, associated with Donald Trump's family, has come close to receiving conditional approval for a national trust bank license. Company co-founder Zach Witkoff confirmed this information, and on the official website of the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), an application from World Liberty Trust Company, N.A. has been listed as "pending review" since January 6, 2026.

If the regulator gives the green light, it will be a landmark event not only for the project itself but also for the entire digital asset market in the United States. Obtaining a trust license will allow the entity to perform critically important functions: issuing and redeeming the USD1 stablecoin, managing its reserves, and providing institutional clients with custodial services for storing digital assets.

The stated reserve management strategy deserves special attention. According to the plans, reserves will be held in dollar accounts at financial institutions, money market funds backed by U.S. government bonds, and highly liquid cash equivalents. This conservative approach is clearly designed to meet the strictest requirements of U.S. regulators and reduce the risks of stablecoin de-pegging.

From my perspective, this step is not just another license application. It is a clear signal that major players connected to the political establishment intend to legalize and integrate crypto assets into the traditional U.S. financial system. If World Liberty Financial successfully completes all procedures, we may see a wave of similar applications from other projects seeking institutional recognition and access to banking infrastructure.
