OVHcloud integrates Quobly's quantum computer into its cloud ecosystem: a new stage in the evolution of computing
French cloud provider OVHcloud has announced a significant expansion of its Quantum Platform. By the end of 2026, the company will deploy Alloy Pioneer — the first commercially available quantum computer from startup Quobly, built on silicon spin qubits — within its sovereign cloud.
This event marks not just another integration, but a strategic step toward democratizing quantum computing. Alloy Pioneer uses technology based on 300mm FD-SOI wafers, which is an industry standard for semiconductor manufacturing. This approach is fundamentally important: it allows quantum systems to be scaled while maintaining compatibility with existing classical computing infrastructure.
Why is this important for the market?
Quantum computing has long remained the prerogative of a narrow circle of research laboratories and large corporations. The integration of Quobly into the OVHcloud platform opens up access to this technology for a wider range of developers and businesses. Silicon spin qubits, unlike their superconducting counterparts, have longer coherence times and are potentially cheaper to manufacture due to the use of mature semiconductor processes.

My expert assessment: Integrating a quantum computer based on silicon qubits into a cloud platform is a pragmatic and timely move. However, by 2026 we will only see the first stage: the real computing power of such systems will still remain limited. Nevertheless, for OVHcloud this is an excellent opportunity to take a pioneering position in Europe, while giants like AWS and Azure are actively acquiring startups in this field.
