OVHcloud integrates Quobly quantum computer into cloud platform: analysis of prospects

French cloud provider OVHcloud has announced a strategic expansion of its quantum platform. By the end of 2026, the Alloy Pioneer quantum computer from startup Quobly will be deployed within the company's sovereign cloud. This is the first commercially available quantum computer based on silicon spin qubits, which in itself marks an important milestone in the evolution of quantum technologies.

At the core of Quobly's solution is the use of 300mm FD-SOI wafers, an industry standard in semiconductor manufacturing. In my assessment, it is precisely this approach that could become a key factor for scaling quantum computing. Integration with existing semiconductor infrastructure lowers the barrier to entry and accelerates the commercialization of the technology, which is critically important for a sector that has long remained within the confines of laboratory experiments.

From a market perspective, this collaboration demonstrates the growing interest of major cloud players in quantum solutions. OVHcloud, unlike hyperscalers such as AWS or Google, focuses on data sovereignty and European technological independence. The Alloy Pioneer, operating on silicon qubits, could become a more stable and scalable alternative to the superconducting systems that dominate today.

My conclusions

Although nearly two years remain until the commercial launch, this move by OVHcloud and Quobly is not just another novelty. It is a signal that quantum computing is gradually transitioning from the hype stage to real integration with the cloud ecosystem. If Quobly manages to confirm its stated characteristics in practice, we may witness a paradigm shift in the architecture of quantum processors, which will directly impact the cryptography market and the security of blockchain networks.
