Matt Damon and Ripple join forces: blockchain against the global water crisis

Hollywood star and founder of the charitable organization Water.org, Matt Damon, will be one of the key speakers at the upcoming Ripple Swell conference, which will be held in New York from October 27 to 29. This event marks an important stage in the collaboration between the world of high technology and a global humanitarian mission.

Technology in the Service of Humanity

Water.org, founded by Damon, has already helped provide access to clean water for 70 million people worldwide. Now, in partnership with Ripple, the organization intends to scale its efforts through the Get Blue program, announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2026. The ambitious goal is to provide safe water to 200 million people by 2030.

The key tool for achieving this goal will be Ripple's payment infrastructure. The use of the RLUSD (Ripple USD) stablecoin and the Ripple Payments network will allow funds to be transferred to local credit organizations in Latin America, Asia, and Africa almost instantly. Unlike traditional bank transfers, which can take days, blockchain transactions are completed in minutes, which is critical for the rapid financing of humanitarian projects on the ground.

Ripple Swell 2026: Scale and Strategy

Ripple CTO David Schwartz confirmed that the upcoming Swell will be the largest event in the company's history. For the first time, the annual conference will be combined with the XRPL Apex developer summit, bringing together over 1,500 guests. Participants can expect three stages and more than 50 thematic sessions covering the latest technological updates to the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem.

The event program clearly demonstrates Ripple's strategic direction of turning XRPL into a core infrastructure for institutional investors. Since 2017, the company has allocated over $550 million to develop the ecosystem, and these investments are beginning to yield tangible results. The partnership with Water.org is a vivid example of how blockchain technologies can solve real-world problems, going far beyond simple payments.

Analyst's Perspective

Such collaborations are a powerful signal for the market. The combination of Damon's high-profile name with Ripple's technological base not only increases brand recognition but also demonstrates the practical value of blockchain for solving global challenges. For XRP, this could be a catalyst for interest from major investors who are looking not just for a speculative asset, but for a technology with real social impact. Announcements at Swell will likely determine the dynamics of the XRP exchange rate in the coming months, and the current partnership is one of the strongest fundamental factors.
