Matt Damon at Ripple Swell: How Blockchain Saves 200 Million People from Water Scarcity
Famous Hollywood actor and public figure Matt Damon has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Ripple Swell conference, which will be held in New York from October 27 to 29. Damon, founder of the charitable foundation Water.org, will speak at the forum to demonstrate how distributed ledger technology can fundamentally change the approach to global humanitarian issues.
Water.org, which has provided clean water to over 70 million people over the years, has launched an ambitious program called Get Blue. The goal is to provide safe access to water for 200 million people by 2030. At Swell, Damon will reveal details of how fintech giant Ripple and its stablecoin RLUSD will become key tools for achieving this goal.
RLUSD: Speed Instead of Bureaucracy
Ripple has been granted the status of exclusive partner of Water.org in the field of digital assets. This means that RLUSD stablecoin transfers will be completed in minutes, unlike traditional bank transactions that can take days. Thanks to this, local credit organizations in Latin America, Asia, and Africa will be able to receive initial funding almost instantly. This is not just about speed—it is about saving lives, where the waiting time for a transfer can cost human lives.
Scale and Strategy of XRP Ledger
Ripple CTO David Schwartz announced that Swell 2026 will be the largest event in the company's history. For the first time, the annual conference will be combined with the XRPL Apex developer summit. Organizers expect over 1,500 guests, for whom three stages and more than 50 thematic sessions will be prepared. Schwartz also plans to present the latest technological updates to the XRP Ledger ecosystem.
The serious lineup of speakers and Ripple's investments of over $550 million since 2017 clearly demonstrate management's long-term bet on turning XRPL into the basic infrastructure for major institutional investors. The network's native token XRP consistently holds positions in the list of largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, and traders are closely monitoring price fluctuations ahead of the October event.
From my perspective, the collaboration with Water.org is not just a PR move. It is a demonstration of the real utility of cryptocurrencies. If Ripple can prove that blockchain is more efficient than traditional financial systems in humanitarian missions, it will become a powerful driver for institutional adoption of XRP and the entire sector.
