Ethereum Foundation loses another top manager: co-executive director leaves post

Xiao-Wei Wang, who served as co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, has announced her departure from the organization and her resignation from the foundation's board. The decision was made after completing a sabbatical. In her statement, Wang indicated that a reassessment of personal priorities was a key factor prompting her to leave the entity that oversees the development of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.

This marks the second significant personnel loss for the Ethereum Foundation in recent months. In February 2025, Tomasz Stańczak left a similar position. Bastian Aue was appointed interim co-executive director at that time, but the current leadership changes raise questions about the foundation's strategic stability.

From a market analysis perspective, the departure of key figures from Ethereum's management structure is a signal that should not be ignored. Although the Ethereum protocol itself remains decentralized and does not directly depend on the foundation's actions, personnel reshuffles could slow down decision-making on critical upgrades, especially in the context of competition from Solana and other Layer-1 solutions. Investors and developers should closely monitor how the Ethereum Foundation builds its new team to avoid losing momentum in ecosystem development.
