The Ethereum Foundation loses another top manager: co-executive director leaves post

Ethereum ETH Эфир 2025

The Ethereum Foundation continues to experience significant personnel changes. Co-executive director of the foundation, Xiao-Wei Wang, announced her departure from both the leadership team and the organization's board. This decision was made after the end of her sabbatical leave.

Personal priorities or a systemic crisis?

In her statement, Wang indicated that a reassessment of personal priorities was a key factor in this move. However, against the backdrop of recent events at the Ethereum Foundation, this appears to be part of a broader trend. Recall that in February of this year, Tomasz Stańczak left a similar position, forcing the foundation to promptly appoint Bastian Aue as interim co-executive director.

What does this mean for the Ethereum ecosystem?

Such changes in the top management of one of the key institutions in the crypto industry rarely go unnoticed. The Ethereum Foundation has traditionally played the role of not only an administrative center but also a moral compass for the entire developer community. The departure of two co-executive directors in a short period of time could signal internal disagreements or a shift in the organization's strategic direction.

At the moment, official representatives of the foundation have not disclosed details of the future management structure. However, given the current dynamics, it can be assumed that the Ethereum Foundation is searching for a new leadership model that can adapt to the growing challenges of the decentralized world.

My view as an analyst

From a long-term perspective, the current personnel reshuffles do not pose a direct threat to the Ethereum network. The fundamental protocols and active developer ecosystem remain stable. However, investors and community members should closely monitor who will fill the vacated positions. If new appointments are made in favor of a more pragmatic and commercially oriented approach, this could change the foundation's philosophy, which in turn would affect the perception of Ethereum as a "people's blockchain."
