Ethereum Foundation loses key executive: Xiao-Wei Wang leaves post

Ethereum ETH Efir 2025

The Ethereum Foundation continues to experience a period of internal changes. Co-Executive Director of the foundation, Xiao-Wu Wang, has officially announced her departure from both her position and the board of directors. This decision was made after completing a sabbatical, and according to her, it is driven by a reassessment of personal priorities and life goals.

Personnel Turbulence Within the Foundation

Wang's departure is not an isolated case but part of a systemic personnel restructuring within the Ethereum Foundation. As early as February of this year, Tomasz Stańczak, who also held the position of co-executive director, left a similar role. He was temporarily replaced by Bastian Aue, who will now likely take on even more responsibilities.

Such rotation in top management raises questions about the organization's strategic stability. The Ethereum Foundation has traditionally been perceived as an institution with a clear governance structure, but a series of departures of key figures may indicate internal processes of rethinking the foundation's role in the ecosystem.

Analytical Perspective

From a market standpoint, such personnel changes rarely have an immediate impact on the price of ETH, but they shape a long-term narrative. The departure of experienced managers during a period of active development of Layer-2 solutions and preparation for the next stages of network upgrades could slow down key decision-making. However, Ethereum remains a decentralized platform, and the project's viability depends not on individual personalities but on the strength of the community and developers. Nevertheless, investors should closely monitor who fills the vacant positions — this will signal the future direction of the foundation's development.
