Ethereum Foundation loses top manager: Xiao-Wei Wang leaves post

Ethereum ETH Efir 2025

The Ethereum Foundation continues to experience significant personnel changes. Co-Executive Director of the foundation, Xiao-Wei Wang, has officially announced her resignation from the position and her departure from the organization's board. This decision was made after completing a sabbatical, which she took to reassess personal priorities.

Wang explained her move as a re-evaluation of life goals and a desire to focus on other directions. Her departure is another link in the chain of personnel reshuffles within the Ethereum Foundation. It is worth recalling that in February of this year, Tomasz Stańczak left a similar position, sparking a wave of discussions in the crypto community. As a temporary measure, Bastian Aue was appointed to the post of co-executive director.

Such changes in the leadership of one of the key institutions of the Ethereum ecosystem inevitably raise questions. The departure of two top managers in a short period of time points to possible internal friction or a strategic restructuring. For me, as an analyst, this is a signal that the foundation is likely reviewing its operational model and management approaches, which could affect the pace of network development in the long term.

My expert opinion: Despite the personnel turbulence, Ethereum remains a fundamentally strong project. However, investors should closely monitor the foundation's next steps—the stability of the management team is critically important for coordinating such complex upgrades as the transition to Proof-of-Stake and scaling through L2 solutions.
