Ethereum Foundation loses key executive: Xiao-Wei Wang leaves position

Xiao-Wei Wang, who served as co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, has officially announced her departure from the organization. This decision was made after completing a sabbatical she took to reassess her professional and personal goals. In her statement, Wang emphasized that the primary reason was a shift in personal priorities, prompting her to leave not only her position but also the foundation's board.
A New Wave of Personnel Changes in the Ethereum Ecosystem
Wang's departure is not an isolated case but part of a larger reorganization within the Ethereum Foundation. Just a month ago, in February, Tomasz Stańczak made a similar decision, also stepping down from the role of co-executive director. As a result of these changes, Bastian Aue was appointed as interim co-executive director, currently overseeing the foundation's operational activities during the transition period.
These personnel changes occur against a backdrop of increasing pressure on the Ethereum Foundation from the community. Many ecosystem participants express concern about the slowing pace of network development and insufficient coordination among key developer teams. The departure of experienced leaders such as Wang and Stańczak may indicate deep internal restructuring processes aimed at optimizing governance.
From a market perspective, such events rarely have an immediate impact on the price of ETH, but they create fundamental uncertainty. Investors should closely monitor how the new interim leader handles the challenges, especially ahead of important protocol upgrades. In my view, the Ethereum Foundation urgently needs to demonstrate transparency and a clear action plan to maintain community trust and prevent further talent drain.
