Ethereum Foundation loses another top manager: co-executive director leaves post

Ethereum ETH Efir 2025

Xiao-Wei Wang, co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, has officially concluded her work at the organization. After an extended sabbatical, she decided to leave not only her position but also the foundation's board. In her statement, Wang indicated that this decision was driven by a reassessment of personal priorities and the need to focus on other life goals.

This departure marks the second significant personnel loss for the Ethereum Foundation in recent months. Recall that in February 2025, Tomasz Stańczak left a similar position, sparking waves of discussion within the community. As a temporary measure to stabilize management, Bastian Aue was appointed and now serves as acting co-executive director.

Situation Analysis

Such changes in the leadership of one of the key institutions in the Ethereum ecosystem inevitably raise questions. The departure of two top managers within a short period points to possible internal structural or strategic shifts. For the community, this is a signal: the Ethereum Foundation is undergoing a period of reorganization, which could impact the network's development pace and key decision-making, especially in the context of upcoming upgrades.

My expert assessment: For now, these changes are tactical in nature and do not threaten Ethereum's long-term stability. However, investors and developers should closely monitor future appointments — the new leadership team will determine the foundation's development trajectory for the coming years. Amid growing competition from other blockchains, the Ethereum Foundation cannot afford prolonged turbulence in its management.
