Self-exposure: A scammer turned himself in by asking ZachXBT for help with frozen 5.73 BTC

A shocking incident occurred in the crypto community that is both amusing and revealing. One of the most famous on-chain detectives, ZachXBT, received a complaint from a user under the nickname AmanKesar11. The user was outraged by the "unfair" freezing of 5.73 BTC (about $475,000) on the Changelly platform. However, instead of getting help, the complainant inadvertently provided the detective with all the evidence against himself.

ZachXBT, following his standard procedure, checked the origin of the funds. The results were shocking: the transaction chain led to a series of thefts carried out through social engineering. The victims were U.S. citizens, including retirees, from whom the attackers extorted funds through American exchanges and Bitcoin ATMs.

How the Scammer Exposed Himself

A detailed analysis showed that the entire criminal chain associated with these 5.73 BTC brought the organizers over $1 million since the beginning of 2025. The bitcoins themselves were frozen on Changelly back in March, which prompted the individual to seek "justice." During the correspondence, AmanKesar11 constantly changed the versions of the funds' origin: sometimes it was a "loan," sometimes "money from a boss," sometimes "the boss's investment in Bitcoin in 2014–2015" through an acquaintance in the U.S. Most amusingly, in December 2025, according to his own words, he even filed a complaint with the Indian police due to the fund freeze, trying to portray himself as a victim.

Structure of the Criminal Group

The screenshots of emails he sent allowed ZachXBT to reconstruct the entire group's structure. He concluded that AmanKesar11 is not the main organizer but merely an intermediary through whom funds are laundered for a boss known by the pseudonym "Mr Parveen." The key evidence was bank statements that the individual himself provided as "proof" of his innocence. They were issued in someone else's name and at a different address.

This case is an excellent reminder: in the world of cryptocurrencies, blockchain transparency does not forgive foolishness. When seeking help, make sure your funds are clean; otherwise, you risk not only failing to get them back but also providing investigators with all the evidence of your own involvement in a crime.
