The scammer turned himself in by complaining to ZachXBT about the freezing of 5.73 BTC.
A curious incident occurred in the crypto community, vividly demonstrating how a lack of knowledge and overconfidence can doom even the most experienced wrongdoer. A scammer operating under the alias AmanKesar11 personally reached out to the renowned on-chain detective ZachXBT, complaining about the "unfair" freezing of funds. Instead of help, he received full de-anonymization and exposure of his entire criminal network.
The incident began when AmanKesar11 wrote to ZachXBT, expressing dissatisfaction that the platform Changelly had blocked his 5.73 BTC, which at that time was worth about $475,000. The scammer demanded an investigation into the situation and assistance in unfreezing the assets. However, the detective, using his transaction tracking tools, quickly determined that these bitcoins had criminal origins.
ZachXBT Investigates
Analysis of the transaction chain showed that the funds were stolen from U.S. citizens, including retirees, through complex social engineering schemes. The attacks were carried out via American exchanges and Bitcoin ATMs. According to ZachXBT's estimates, the total damage caused by this group's actions has exceeded $1 million since the beginning of 2025.
The 5.73 BTC themselves were frozen on Changelly back in March 2025. This is precisely what prompted the scammer to contact the detective—he hoped to recover the funds, unaware that he was thereby signing his own sentence.
During the correspondence, AmanKesar11 constantly changed his story about the origin of the money: at times it was a loan, then funds from a boss, or supposedly the boss's investment in Bitcoin back in 2014-2015 through an acquaintance in the U.S. The funniest part is that in December 2025, the individual even filed a complaint with the Indian police regarding the freeze, attempting to lend legitimacy to his actions.
Who Was Behind the Individual?
The screenshots and "evidence" sent by the scammer allowed ZachXBT to reconstruct the group's full structure. It turned out that AmanKesar11 was merely an intermediary through whom money was laundered for a boss hiding under the alias "Mr Parveen." The bank statements provided by the individual were issued in someone else's name and at a different address, which ultimately confirmed his involvement in the fraud.
ZachXBT addressed his followers with a warning: he respects privacy and is willing to help, but not those trying to regain access to stolen funds. This case is a stark reminder that in the cryptocurrency world, there are no accidental victims, and every transaction leaves an indelible trace.
Expert Opinion: This story is a classic example of how greed and stupidity override caution. The scammer, confident in his impunity, provided the detective with all the evidence himself. For the community, this is another signal: relying on anonymity in the blockchain is a dangerous illusion. Any attempt to "launder" funds through intermediaries will eventually lead to exposure.
