The scammer turned himself in by complaining to ZachXBT about the freezing of 5.73 BTC.
A story worthy of a satirist's pen unfolded in the world of crypto investigations. An anonymous user under the nickname AmanKesar11 reached out to renowned on-chain detective ZachXBT with a complaint about the "unfair" freezing of 5.73 Bitcoin (approximately $475,000) on the Changelly platform. It seemed like a standard request for help. But a transaction check using ZachXBT's tools revealed a shocking truth: these funds were directly linked to a series of thefts targeting U.S. citizens.
How the Scammer Exposed Himself
During the analysis, it was discovered that the incoming funds to AmanKesar11's address traced back to illegal sources. This involved thefts through social engineering aimed at Americans, including retirees. The funds were funneled through U.S. exchanges and Bitcoin ATMs. According to ZachXBT, the total damage from this criminal chain has exceeded $1 million since the beginning of 2025. The 5.73 BTC themselves were frozen on Changelly back in March 2025 — precisely what prompted the individual to seek "justice."
Notably, AmanKesar11's explanations for the origin of the money kept changing: from a "loan" to a "salary from a boss" and even "the boss's investment in Bitcoin in 2014-2015 through an acquaintance in the U.S." In December 2025, he claimed to have gone so far as to file a complaint with the Indian police over the freeze, which only worsened his situation.
Structure of the Group and the Individual's Role
The screenshots of correspondence he provided allowed ZachXBT to reconstruct the entire group's structure. The detective suggests that AmanKesar11 is not the main organizer but merely an intermediary through whom funds are laundered for a boss using the pseudonym "Mr Parveen." This conclusion was drawn from the individual's own "evidence": the bank statements turned out to be in someone else's name and at a different address.
Expert Comment: This case is a classic example of how incompetence and greed lead to the downfall of even well-thought-out schemes. The scammer, seeking help from someone who is the best in the industry at reading the blockchain, not only failed to recover the funds but also provided the investigator with a complete picture of his activities and connections. A lesson for everyone who thinks cryptocurrency is anonymity without consequences: the blockchain remembers everything.
