Self-conceit led to downfall: scammer turned himself in to ZachXBT, complaining about the freeze of 5.73 BTC
A flagrant incident has occurred in the crypto community, once again proving that the professionalism of blockchain detectives should not be underestimated. This time, the victim of his own stupidity was a malicious actor who personally contacted the well-known analyst ZachXBT to complain about an "unfair" freeze of funds.
A user under the nickname AmanKesar11 wrote to ZachXBT, demanding help in unfreezing 5.73 BTC (approximately $475,000) on the Changelly platform. According to him, the funds were frozen "without cause." However, after conducting a standard check of the transactions, ZachXBT quickly established the true origin of these bitcoins.
The Theft Scheme and Self-Exposure
An analysis of the blockchain showed that the funds came from a criminal group specializing in social engineering. The victims were US citizens, including retirees. The money was withdrawn through American exchanges and Bitcoin ATMs. The total damage from this network's activities since the beginning of 2025 exceeds $1 million.
The 5.73 BTC themselves were frozen on Changelly back in March 2025. It was the loss of access to these funds that forced the scammer to seek help from someone who professionally fights such schemes. AmanKesar11's explanations constantly changed: from a "loan from a friend" to "the boss's investments" and even "buying Bitcoin in 2014-2015 through an acquaintance in the US." In December 2025, he went so far as to file a complaint with the Indian police regarding the freeze.
Who is Behind the Nickname AmanKesar11
During the correspondence, AmanKesar11 sent ZachXBT screenshots that became key evidence. The analyst found out that the individual is merely an intermediary, or a "mule," who launders funds for a larger player under the pseudonym "Mr Parveen." The "evidence" sent (bank statements) turned out to be issued in someone else's name and address, which completely destroyed the scammer's cover story.
ZachXBT has already warned his followers: he can be asked for help, and he respects confidentiality, but contacting him to regain access to stolen funds is an extremely risky and stupid idea.
Expert opinion: This story is a clear example that in the world of cryptocurrencies, anonymity is a relative concept. Assuming that blockchain analytics only works against "big players," small-time scammers often make fatal mistakes. Contacting ZachXBT in this case is not just naivety, but an act of desperation that led to the complete collapse of the entire scheme. Criminals should remember: the transparency of the blockchain does not forgive arrogance.
