SpaceX received a "junk" ESG rating: CCC — on par with Russia
Elon Musk's space empire has faced a serious reputational challenge. The MSCI agency assigned SpaceX a CCC rating — the lowest score on its ESG scale, which assesses the management of environmental, social, and corporate governance risks. This verdict was delivered literally on the eve of the company's historic IPO, during which it managed to raise $75 billion.

The CCC rating places SpaceX in the same category as those demonstrating "extremely weak management measures" and having serious scandals in their past. In terms of overall ESG risks, the company scored only 1 out of 10. In the area of corporate governance, the assessment was slightly better — 3.2 out of 10. MSCI directly points to high risks and insufficient control measures.

SPCX shares started at a price of $135, instantly valuing the company at $75 billion. However, the euphoria was short-lived. By Thursday, quotes had fallen 18% from the intraday high above $225, closing at $184.98. The market capitalization shrank by approximately $620 billion over two days — from $3 trillion to $2.37 trillion.
