BitMine increases ETH reserves: new $92 million purchase and strategy for 2026

Ethereum ETH Efir 2025

Last week, BitMine Immersion Technologies executed a major transaction, acquiring 52,203 ETH for approximately $92 million. This addition brought the company's total reserves to an impressive 5.67 million ETH, equivalent to nearly $10 billion at current market prices.

It is worth noting that this purchase volume was more modest than in the previous two weeks, when accumulation rates were higher. Nevertheless, BitMine Chairman Tom Lee confirmed the company's intention to maintain a stable and consistent pace of ether accumulation throughout 2026.

Currently, BitMine's reserves account for about 4.7% of the entire circulating supply of Ethereum, making the company one of the largest institutional holders of the asset. This aggressive accumulation strategy demonstrates long-term confidence in ETH's prospects, despite current market volatility.

My analysis: Such concentration of ETH in the hands of a single player is a two-sided signal. On one hand, it indicates strong faith in the fundamental value of the Ethereum network and expectations of growth. On the other hand, such a significant share held by one corporation creates liquidity risk and could amplify volatility with any major moves by BitMine. Investors should closely monitor the actions of this "whale."
