Ripple receives preliminary approval for a CASP license in Luxembourg: a new step towards European expansion

Ripple, the company known for its blockchain solutions for international payments, has received preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg. This document, issued in the form of a so-called "Green Light Letter," is merely a step toward the full license — the company must fulfill a number of additional regulatory requirements.
After final approval, Ripple Payments will be able to launch regulated crypto-asset and stablecoin payment services for banks, fintech companies, and corporations in 30 countries of the European Economic Area (EEA). Importantly, the CASP license will complement Ripple's existing European EMI (Electronic Money Institution) license, significantly expanding its operational capabilities in the region.
To date, Ripple Payments has already processed transactions worth over $100 billion across more than 60 markets worldwide. Obtaining the CASP license in Luxembourg is a strategic move that will allow the company not only to legalize its services under the new European MiCA regulation but also to strengthen trust among institutional clients.
Analyst comment: Luxembourg continues to be one of the key hubs for crypto companies in Europe due to its progressive regulation. For Ripple, this is not just a formality — it is a signal to the market of its readiness to scale in strict jurisdictions. However, the full realization of this potential will depend on the company's ability to quickly meet all remaining regulatory conditions.
