Germany bets on quantum sensors: SPRIND launches two funding programs

The German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovations (SPRIND) has officially announced the launch of two new support programs focused on the development of quantum sensors. These are devices that utilize fundamental quantum effects to achieve a fundamentally new level of measurement accuracy. Such sensors have direct potential for applications in navigation systems, climate change monitoring, and high-tech industrial processes.

Applications from interested teams are accepted until September 6. The first program is focused on applied use cases—that is, technologies that can be quickly implemented in the real sector. The second program targets fundamental research: new measurement methods and the development of quantum systems themselves. As part of the initiative, participants will receive not only direct funding but also mentoring support, as well as access to key industry contacts and infrastructure.

Cryptalist Analytics: This decision is not just another grant. Germany is consistently strengthening its position in the quantum technology race, and quantum sensors are an area where practical returns may come sooner than in full-scale quantum computing. For the crypto industry, this is a signal: increased measurement accuracy and sensor technology could, in the long term, impact the security of hardware wallets and mining infrastructure. While this is a distant prospect, the trend cannot be ignored.
