Naples will become a European hub for quantum computing: agreement between Classiq and TEA TEK Group
Israeli company Classiq, which specializes in developing software for quantum computing, has joined forces with the Italian engineering group TEA TEK Group. The partners have announced the creation of a joint quantum computing center in Naples.
The new facility will be equipped with quantum hardware operating on the basis of 128 qubits. A key element of the infrastructure will be the Classiq software platform, which will provide management and optimization of quantum algorithms. This project represents a significant step in the development of the quantum ecosystem in Southern Europe.
Computing as a Service Model
According to the companies' plans, the launch of commercial services is scheduled for the end of 2026. Users will gain access to computing power without the need to deploy their own expensive infrastructure. The service will be provided under the Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) model.
This approach opens up access to quantum computing for small and medium-sized businesses, startups, and research institutes. Instead of investing in equipment, the cost of which can run into tens of millions of dollars, clients will be able to rent computing time and resources remotely.
My comment: The creation of the center in Naples is not just a local initiative, but a strategic move in the global race for quantum supremacy. 128 qubits is already a serious computing power, allowing the solution of problems inaccessible to classical supercomputers in areas such as cryptography, materials science, and financial modeling. I expect that in the next 2-3 years we will see a sharp increase in demand for QCaaS, and such centers will become key nodes of the new digital infrastructure.
