Anthropic launches Claude Tag: AI agent becomes a full-fledged team member in Slack

AI agents

Anthropic has taken AI interaction to a new level by introducing the Claude Tag tool. This is not just another chatbot, but a full-fledged AI agent integrated into Slack work channels. Now, the neural network can act as an active participant in a project team, rather than a passive assistant.

The key difference between Claude Tag and standard solutions is its autonomy and deep integration. To delegate a task, simply mention the model via @Claude. The AI independently breaks down the assignment into stages, uses connected databases, program code, and third-party applications, and then performs the work in the background. This fundamentally changes the approach to project management, especially in development and analytics.

The multi-user mode deserves special attention. All channel participants can see Claude's actions and continue a conversation started by a colleague. The neural network accumulates the context of discussions, eliminating the need to repeat explanations. When background mode is enabled, the AI proactively reports important updates or reminds about unresolved tasks. The model can plan and execute long-term projects over several days.

Notably, within Anthropic itself, Claude Tag already creates 65% of the program code. The tool is also actively used for analyzing metrics and processing support tickets. Administrators can flexibly configure the neural network's access to confidential data and set limits on token usage.

The service is available in beta testing mode for users of Claude Enterprise and Team plans. Claude Tag runs on the Opus 4.8 model and replaces the standard Claude application for Slack.

My analysis: This is not just an update, but a paradigm shift in corporate AI usage. Anthropic is creating an infrastructure where AI is not a tool, but a team member with a voice. Considering that 65% of the code within the company itself is written through Claude Tag, we are observing not a theory, but a working practice. In the coming months, we can expect a wave of adoption of such agents in major tech companies, which could lead to a revision of standard Agile methodologies.
