Polish crypto exchange Kanga becomes the first in the region to receive a MiCA license from the Bank of Latvia.

принятию регулирования MiCA

Polish cryptocurrency exchange Kanga has taken an important step in its expansion into the European market. Its operator, SIA AlphaRoute, operating under the Kanga Exchange EU brand, has received an official license in accordance with the MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation from the Bank of Latvia. The permit was approved on June 18 and paves the way for full-fledged operations in European Union countries.

The MiCA license, issued by the Latvian regulator, grants Kanga Exchange EU a wide range of permitted operations. The company can now legally store clients' crypto assets, manage a trading platform, exchange digital assets, and provide transfer services. This significantly boosts trust in the platform and removes many legal barriers that crypto exchanges previously faced in Europe.

Obtaining the MiCA license is not just a formality but a strategic maneuver. For Kanga, which is originally based in Poland, this step means the ability to legally serve clients across the entire EU without needing separate permits in each country. For users, it guarantees that the exchange meets the strict standards of security, transparency, and consumer protection set by European law.

Against the backdrop of tightening regulation of the cryptocurrency market in Europe, such licenses are becoming a key competitive advantage. Exchanges that manage to adapt to MiCA requirements gain access to the world's largest economic bloc, while less prepared players risk being left behind. Kanga Exchange EU, it seems, is betting on a long-term and legal presence in the region.

Expert opinion: This precedent shows that obtaining a MiCA license is becoming the "gold standard" for crypto exchanges seeking institutional recognition. However, it is important to remember that the license is just the beginning. The real test for Kanga will begin when it has to prove its ability to comply with all AML/CFT requirements and ensure flawless customer service across the entire EU.
