Bitcoin crashed to $59,000: $4 billion sold in two hours — what this means for the market

Key signal from the market: Bitcoin broke through the $59,000 support amid a massive wave of aggressive selling on Binance. Over two hours, the volume of taker-sell orders exceeded $4 billion, marking the highest level since the beginning of May.

In the first hour, the pressure amounted to about $2.1 billion, and in the second, another $1.9 billion. This is not an isolated spike but a sustained flow of long position liquidations and profit-taking. Such a volume of aggressive selling over two consecutive hourly candles is a rare occurrence, indicating coordinated pressure from large players.

Capitulation or temporary shock?

The combination of the $59,000 level breakdown and multi-billion dollar taker-sell volumes resembles short-term capitulation. However, additional data on liquidations, open interest, and funding rates are needed to confirm this scenario. For now, the market is showing more of a panic reaction than a structural reversal.

Meanwhile, CryptoQuant analysts note a sharp recovery in spot volumes after an eight-month decline that brought turnover to a three-year low. June became the first month with a noticeable reversal in dynamics: volume on Binance exceeded $50 billion, on Coinbase — $32 billion, on Gate — $25 billion, on Bybit — $24 billion.

Volume growth is not a trend reversal

It is important to understand: the increase in spot activity does not indicate a bullish reversal. It merely reflects a heightened willingness among participants to act — both sellers and buyers. At the same time, selling pressure is being successfully absorbed by the market so far, pointing to the presence of counter-demand in the $60,000 area.

My conclusion: the current situation is a classic stress test for Bitcoin. If buyers hold the $58,000–$59,000 zone, we will see consolidation. If pressure continues, the next significant support level is $55,000. The market is at a crossroads, and the next 24–48 hours will be critical.
