Thailand has issued a wanted notice for a Chinese businessman for illegal mining and electricity theft amounting to $28 million.
Thai law enforcement authorities have issued an official arrest warrant for Chinese citizen Wang Yicheng, suspected of organizing a large-scale illegal crypto mining scheme. The criminal network allegedly stole electricity worth approximately $28 million over an extended period.
According to Thailand's Department of Special Investigation, the underground mining infrastructure operated in violation of all regulatory norms. The illegally obtained energy resources were used to power cryptocurrency mining facilities. Moreover, the investigation found that the proceeds were laundered through schemes involving online gambling and scam projects. In November of this year, Wang Yicheng was already officially charged with theft and violating the Computer Crimes Act.
