Flash mob on X: users send $25 each to 'impoverished' Elon Musk via XMoney

Users of social network X have launched an ironic flash mob: they are mass-sending micro-transfers to Elon Musk through the built-in payment service XMoney. The reason was a sharp reduction in the businessman's capital — over two weeks, he lost the status of the first dollar trillionaire in history.

The wave of jokes began with a post by a blogger under the nickname Corey. He posted a screenshot of a $25 transaction with a laconic caption: "Buy coffee on my tab." Musk himself did not stay aside and briefly replied: "Thanks." After that, dozens of users declared their readiness to repeat the gesture if the billionaire responded to their posts. The situation quickly escalated into a mass flash mob within the new payment service.

Why Musk Lost His Trillionaire Status

The main reason is a sharp drop in the value of key assets amid a global correction in the stock market. In June 2026, Musk's wealth peaked at $1.4 trillion, making him the only dollar trillionaire in the world. However, a massive sell-off in the technology sector and the artificial intelligence industry severely impacted his portfolio. Currently, the capital of the head of Tesla and SpaceX is estimated at $943 billion.

Despite losing the symbolic title, Musk confidently holds the first place in the ranking of the richest people on the planet. His resources significantly surpass the assets of his main competitors, including Jeff Bezos and Larry Page.

Expert opinion: This flash mob is not so much about money as it is about testing the new X payment infrastructure. Musk uses any opportunity to popularize XMoney, and users willingly play along, turning a financial transaction into viral content. For the crypto community, this is another signal: integrating payments into social networks is an inevitable trend, and X intends to take a leading position here.
