Dutch quantum processor control system developer Qblox has officially announced a strategic partnership with global technology giant Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Under the agreement, the companies intend to integrate Qblox hardware into HPE's existing high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

The main focus of the collaboration is the creation of specialized testbeds designed for testing quantum algorithms, ensuring software compatibility, and conducting system benchmarking. This involves building full-fledged hybrid classical-quantum systems that will combine the power of traditional supercomputers with the unique capabilities of quantum processors.

From my perspective, this collaboration is a landmark for the entire industry. Qblox, known for its scalable and modular qubit control solutions, finds a strong industrial partner in HPE, which has vast experience in deploying HPC clusters. Together, they can significantly accelerate the transition from theoretical research to practical, commercially applicable hybrid computing.

Key aspects of the partnership:

  • Hardware integration: Qblox hardware platforms will be directly connected to HPE's computing power.
  • Algorithm development: Creating and testing hybrid algorithms capable of solving problems inaccessible to classical computers.
  • Benchmarking: Systematic evaluation of the performance and stability of hybrid systems.

In my opinion, the hybrid computing market is just beginning to take shape, and such alliances will form its foundation. In the next 2-3 years, we will see the first real-world use cases of such systems in pharmaceuticals, materials science, and financial modeling.
