Qblox and HPE join forces to create next-generation hybrid computing systems

Dutch quantum processor control system developer Qblox has announced a strategic partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). As part of the collaboration, the companies plan to integrate Qblox hardware with HPE's high-performance computing (HPC) and AI infrastructures.

What lies behind this alliance?

The joint work will focus on creating testbeds for developing quantum algorithms, ensuring software compatibility, and conducting system benchmarking of hybrid classical-quantum systems. This will accelerate the transition from theoretical research to practical applications in areas such as modeling complex molecules, logistics optimization, and financial forecasting.

The key goal is to bridge the gap between classical supercomputers and quantum processors. Qblox is known for its modular and scalable qubit control solutions, while HPE possesses one of the most powerful HPC ecosystems in the world. The integration of these technologies is expected to deliver high data processing speeds with minimal latency.

My professional opinion

This collaboration is a logical step in the evolution of quantum computing. The market no longer believes in purely quantum solutions within the next 5-7 years. The hybrid approach, where quantum accelerators work in tandem with classical HPC clusters, is the only realistic path to technology commercialization. Qblox and HPE have chosen the right strategy: instead of racing for qubits, they focus on compatibility and practical integration, which is critically important for adoption in the corporate sector.
