Japan targets 10 million AI robots: national model and trillion yen
Japan is betting on next-generation robotics. The country's authorities have announced an ambitious project to create a national artificial intelligence model designed specifically for robots. The key goal is to deploy approximately 10 million AI-powered robots across 18 different industries and service sectors by 2040.
Government Order and Funding
The development of the model has been entrusted to the Noetra consortium in partnership with the AIST research institute. The program is scheduled for the period from fiscal year 2026 to 2030, and the government is prepared to allocate up to 1 trillion yen (approximately 6.1 billion US dollars) over five years. The first working version of the model is expected within the current fiscal year, indicating a high pace of project implementation.

This is not just a technological initiative but part of Japan's long-term strategy to address the aging population and labor shortage.
