Lighter and Mantle whales have become active: a six-month record of large transactions
The Lighter (LIT) network and the Mantle (MNT) ecosystem have demonstrated record activity among large holders — whales — over the past six months. According to on-chain analytics, the number of transactions exceeding $100,000 has surged sharply, indicating heightened interest from institutional and large private investors in these assets amid altcoin volatility.
Lighter: Tokenomics as a Growth Catalyst
On-chain services recorded 86 transactions with LIT worth over $100,000 — the highest figure in six months. This surge in activity coincided with a dynamic rise in the token's price: on Monday, the LIT rate soared by more than 20%, reaching $2.6 — a high since January. The weekly increase amounted to approximately 37.9%.
The reason for this interest lies in the recent update to the project's tokenomics. Last month, the Lighter team implemented a token burning mechanism, which reduces the total supply of LIT. Additionally, staking conditions were revised: a 6% annual yield was established from a pool of 250 million LIT. These measures create a supply deficit and stimulate demand, which attracted the attention of whales.
Mantle: Betting on RWA and Stablecoins
The Mantle network is showing equally impressive dynamics. 37 large transactions with MNT worth over $100,000 were recorded — also a six-month record. Analysts link this surge to the growth of the real-world assets (RWA) segment and tokenized securities.
In a recent report for the first half of the year, the Mantle team reported all-time highs in the project's on-chain economy. The total value locked (TVL) in DeFi exceeded $1 billion, of which $90 million came from RWA solutions. The stablecoin market capitalization hit a new record, reaching $955 million (120% annual growth). The network now supports 155 tokenized stocks and has a treasury exceeding $1.8 billion.
Despite positive fundamental indicators, the price of MNT continues to follow the global market: over the past day, the token fell by 2% to $0.431, although it showed a 1.4% increase over the week.
Expert opinion: The current whale activity in Lighter and Mantle is not a speculative surge, but a deliberate reaction to fundamental improvements. In the case of LIT, deflationary tokenomics plays a key role, while for Mantle, it is the expansion into the RWA and stablecoin sectors. If these trends persist, we may see further strengthening of both projects' positions, but the overall state of the market will remain a key factor.
