Massive burning of memecoins from CZ's wallet: the truth turned out to be simpler than the theories

The crypto community's attention is once again focused on the personal address of Changpeng Zhao (CZ), co-founder and former CEO of Binance. Recently, unusual activity was recorded on his wallet: a large batch of memecoins was sent to a burn address on the BNB Chain. A well-known crypto blogger was the first to notice this and quickly constructed an entire theory around these transactions, linking them to certain "mutual obligations" between Zhao and his audience.

However, as is often the case, reality turned out to be far more mundane. Zhao himself promptly commented on the situation and dispelled all speculation, explaining that the operations were driven by a simple reason — technical necessity.

What actually happened?

According to Changpeng Zhao, he hadn't looked at this wallet in a long time. When he finally opened it, he found tens of thousands of various memecoins there. Such a quantity of "junk" tokens made the balance display incorrect and interfered with normal operation. Instead of transferring them to his main address, which made no sense, CZ made a rational decision — to send them directly to a burn address. This is a special wallet that no one has access to, making the tokens permanently destroyed.

Mass sending of spam memecoins to the wallets of prominent figures in the industry has long been a common practice. This is exactly how tens of thousands of coins accumulated in Zhao's address. No hidden meaning, no signals to the market — just technical cleanup.

Not the first time with this blogger

Notably, this is not the first time this blogger has tried to associate his projects with CZ's name. In early July, he had already published a promotional post praising the tokens $CZ, $TCC, and $AB as leaders of the new memecoin season on BNB Chain. He directly linked two of them to Zhao, claiming that $TCC was launched in collaboration with the businessman, and that $AB was backed by a person personally acquainted with CZ. At that time, Zhao completely disavowed these projects, stating that he did not own them and knew nothing about them.

Both cases share a common pattern: the blogger builds a compelling story around Zhao's name, and then the businessman himself is forced to justify himself to the audience.

Expert opinion: This situation is a vivid example of how information noise in the crypto community often generates theories far removed from reality. The memecoin market, especially on the BNB Chain, is oversaturated with spam projects that use the names of famous figures to attract attention. Investors should be extremely cautious and not fall for such speculative narratives. CZ's actions in this case are nothing more than a technical necessity, not a hidden signal or a gesture of goodwill.
