HYPE-ETF inflow interrupted: nine-week capital streak ends with $7.26 million outflow

The cryptocurrency ETF market is adjusting the balance of power. For the first time since their launch, spot exchange-traded funds on Hyperliquid (HYPE) recorded a weekly capital outflow. This event ended an impressive nine-week streak of continuous inflows that had been observed since May of this year.

In the week ending July 17, $7.26 million was withdrawn from HYPE products. The total net inflow since launch decreased from $308.6 million to $301.34 million. Assets under management also fell by 12.7%, dropping to $306.03 million. This dynamic occurred against the backdrop of a sharp decline in the price of the HYPE token itself, which fell by more than 8% during the reporting period, showing the worst performance among the top 10 cryptocurrencies.

Interestingly, the outflow from HYPE ETFs contrasts with the overall market picture. The largest crypto funds, on the contrary, are demonstrating steady inflows. Bitcoin ETFs attracted capital for the second consecutive week—this time $75.67 million after eight weeks of outflows. Ethereum funds posted their best weekly result since late April, adding $105.44 million. XRP and Solana products accounted for $6.78 million and approximately $1 million, respectively. In total, these four directions attracted over $188 million.

Expert Analysis

The reversal in HYPE flows coincided with a general correction in the altcoin market. However, the decline in the token's price was deeper than that of the global market, indicating a local weakening of interest in the asset. The key question now is whether this outflow is a one-off episode or the beginning of capital rotation from HYPE into more liquid assets such as BTC and ETH. Data from the coming week will be decisive in determining the trend.
