Jimothy The Raccoon memecoin surged 331%: another signal from Elon Musk

Solana meme coin Jimothy The Raccoon (JIMOTHY) demonstrated an impressive 331% surge within just a few hours. The reason for this spike was a fresh post by Elon Musk on social network X, where he shared a video featuring a raccoon.

This is yet another case where Musk's actions serve as a powerful catalyst for speculative assets. His posts, profile picture changes, or even mentions in his bio have repeatedly led to sharp movements in the meme coin market, and the current situation is no exception.

Reason Behind Jimothy The Raccoon (JIMOTHY) Surge

On Saturday morning, Elon Musk posted a video of a raccoon on his account. The video's author turned out to be Dogan Ural, a designer and creative ambassador for xAI, a company focused on artificial intelligence development. The post quickly gained traction: within a few hours, views exceeded 811,000. Notably, the billionaire did not directly mention the JIMOTHY token, yet the market instantly reacted to the slightest hint.

At the time of analysis, the asset was trading around $0.0162. Over a short period, its market capitalization jumped to $16.2 million, and daily trading volume reached an impressive $25.4 million.

The JIMOTHY cryptocurrency was launched on the Pump.fun platform in July 2026. Anonymous developers named the meme coin after a raccoon from Seattle. The token's price is highly volatile and sensitive to the news landscape. In the first days after launch, the asset grew approximately 52-fold as the raccoon story spread across the internet. Another notable spike occurred after the animal was mentioned by the White House account.

Impact of Musk's Posts on Meme Coins

Elon Musk remains a key figure capable of moving the meme coin market. In October 2025, his video with Grok triggered a roughly 30% rise in FLOKI. Similar surges have happened before: after a post with the nickname "Dogefather," a username change to Gorklon Rust, and other messages from the businessman. Each time, the rally in quotes ended as soon as audience attention shifted to something else.

JIMOTHY remains a micro-cap asset: behind its price is not fundamental value, but community sentiment. Whether the upward trend will persist will directly depend on trading volumes and the level of engagement on the network.

My take: such rallies are a classic example of "narrative liquidity." As long as the story is fresh and emotional, capital will flow in. But as soon as a new news trigger emerges, a large portion of these funds can be withdrawn just as quickly as they entered. For inexperienced investors, this is an extremely risky asset where the probability of capital loss is significantly higher than the chances of long-term profit.
