The A7A5 ruble stablecoin: $140 billion in turnover and 2,000 transactions per day — a new record

The largest ruble stablecoin A7A5 continues to demonstrate impressive momentum. Since its launch, the total turnover of the A7 platform has reached nearly $140 billion, with daily payment flow steadily holding at up to 2,000 transactions. These figures are confirmed by PSB head Petr Fradkov, who revealed details of the system's operation.

Scale of operations: from small businesses to cross-border settlements

According to Fradkov, A7A5 confidently maintains its status as the largest non-dollar stablecoin. The number of permanent corporate clients using A7 products is estimated at 15,000 companies. This, the banker emphasizes, includes not only large exporters but also mid-sized businesses, small enterprises, and even individuals, creating a diverse flow of transactions.

It is important to note that previously announced estimates of stablecoin transaction volumes exceeded $100 billion — my current data is significantly higher than that mark. Fradkov directly refuted assumptions that large export deals are artificially split into smaller transfers to inflate statistics. "We have 15,000 companies as permanent clients using A7 products. These are companies of various levels," he stated, emphasizing the organic nature of growth.

Who pays through the A7 system

Typical use cases include paying for vacations, medical treatment, and education abroad. "Life goes on. People travel for leisure, seek medical care, and pay for education. And the system allows them to do this. It is a working mechanism," explained the head of PSB. The platform's versatility explains the wide range of amounts in the statistics: from small everyday transfers by citizens to large corporate payments.

A7A5 remains the largest ruble stablecoin on the market, pegged to the ruble and servicing settlements unavailable through traditional banking channels. Notably, the Bank of Russia has still not commented on the project, although the scale of operations has long surpassed the experimental stage. Some market participants are already attempting to launch alternative ruble stablecoins bypassing A7A5, which only confirms the significance of this niche.

My analysis: The $140 billion figure is not just a number but a marker of maturity in the ruble segment of the crypto economy. However, the lack of regulatory response creates uncertainty: if the Central Bank decides to intervene, the market could face a sharp correction. For now, A7A5 looks like an indispensable tool for cross-border settlements under sanctions restrictions.
