Between August 3 and August 9, Strategy, one of the largest institutional holders of bitcoin, conducted a series of operations that may seem contradictory at first glance, but upon detailed analysis reveal a well-thought-out financial strategy. I recorded the sale of 1,690 BTC, with all proceeds directed toward the buyback of its own preferred shares, STRC. In this transaction, the company raised $108.6 million, selling the coins at an average price of $64,262 per unit.

However, this is only part of the bigger picture. In parallel, Strategy issued and sold 6.59 million shares of its common stock class MSTR, raising $653.1 million. Of this amount, $650 million was allocated to replenish its dollar reserve, which has now reached $4.65 billion. This redistribution of liquidity indicates that the company is not merely hedging its positions but is actively managing its capital structure, balancing between equity financing and bitcoin assets.

As of August 9, Strategy's total portfolio holds 840,447 BTC, acquired for $63.36 billion. This confirms that even with targeted sales, the company maintains a dominant position among corporate holders of the leading cryptocurrency. It is important to note that the average purchase price of the entire portfolio remains below current market levels, providing a significant "safety cushion" in case of volatility.

In my view, this operation demonstrates the maturity of Strategy's approach: instead of simply accumulating the asset, the company uses bitcoin as a tool to optimize its own capital. The STRC buyback is essentially a return of value to preferred shareholders, while the growth of the dollar reserve provides flexibility for future acquisitions. In the long term, this strengthens market confidence, although it creates short-term pressure on the price of BTC due to the sale. Investors should view such actions not as a signal of a bearish trend, but as a tactical step within a broader accumulation strategy.
