Strategic Maneuver: Strategy executed 1,690 BTC for STRC buyback

Last week, from August 3 to 9, Strategy carried out a series of operations that clearly demonstrate its flexibility in capital management. During this period, 1,690 BTC were sold, and all proceeds were directed toward buying back its own preferred shares, STRC. This is not just a routine transaction, but a well-thought-out move that signals an intention to optimize the shareholder capital structure amid current market volatility.
According to the report filed with the SEC, the total revenue from the Bitcoin sale amounted to $108.6 million, at an average selling price of $64,262 per coin. It is important to note that this level is significantly lower than current market quotes, which underscores that the company is acting not as a speculator, but as a strategic investor willing to lock in a loss for long-term corporate goals.
In parallel, Strategy conducted an additional issuance: 6.59 million MSTR class shares were placed for $653.1 million. Of these funds, $650 million were directed toward increasing the dollar reserve, which has now reached an impressive $4.65 billion. This step strengthens the company's liquidity and provides it with a significant margin of safety for future acquisitions.
As of August 9, the company continues to hold a colossal reserve of 840,447 BTC, with a total acquisition cost estimated at $63.36 billion. This confirms that even during moments of tactical sales, Strategy remains one of the largest institutional holders of the first cryptocurrency in the world.
From my point of view, this combination—selling BTC to buy back shares while simultaneously building up a fiat cushion—is a classic example of corporate risk hedging. The company is clearly preparing for a potential market decline, but at the same time, it is not abandoning its core strategy of accumulating Bitcoin in the long term. This balancing act between short-term capital protection and long-term growth deserves, in my opinion, the attention of all market participants.
