Chainlink (LINK) could rise to $200: forecast from Standard Chartered

RWA tokenization

Analysts at Standard Chartered have presented an ambitious scenario for Chainlink (LINK), according to which the token could reach the $200 mark by the end of 2030. This implies growth of roughly 25 times from current levels around $8. The key driver is positioning Chainlink as critical infrastructure for the tokenized assets (RWA) market.

Geoff Kendrick, head of digital asset research at the bank, emphasizes the protocol's uniqueness, calling it the "only end-to-end platform" capable of covering the entire lifecycle of tokenized assets—both in decentralized finance (DeFi) and in the traditional financial system. As real-world assets are moved on-chain, the market will require reliable oracles for external data, secure cross-chain communication, and compliance tools—these are precisely the niches that Chainlink fills.

The report also forecasts that by the end of the decade, network fee generation will grow approximately 25 times. Among the clients and users of Chainlink's services are giants such as SWIFT, DTCC, Euroclear, JPMorgan, Mastercard, UBS, Fidelity, and S&P Global, confirming institutional interest in the protocol.

Key risks to the forecast

Despite the optimism, Kendrick highlights three main factors that could hinder the realization of the scenario:

  • A slowdown in the pace of institutional tokenization, which could delay the growth in demand for Chainlink's services.
  • Increased competition from specialized providers operating in individual market segments.
  • Technical or configuration failures that could undermine trust in the platform and its reputation.

It is worth noting that the RWA market is already showing impressive momentum: from April to June, the volume of such assets on lending platforms and DEXs reached $7.4 billion, triple the figure from a year earlier ($2.3 billion). This confirms the fundamental trend that analysts are relying on.

My comment: The forecast looks logical from the perspective of the long-term tokenization trend, but 25-fold growth is an extremely optimistic scenario that assumes nearly perfect execution of all market conditions. Investors should keep in mind that even if the current momentum in RWA persists, realizing such potential will require not only technological superiority but also an impeccable macroeconomic environment. I recommend viewing such targets as a benchmark rather than a guarantee of returns.
