Standard Chartered sees LINK potential at $200: a bet on tokenization as the main catalyst

Analysts at the global banking giant Standard Chartered have significantly revised their view on Chainlink (LINK), setting a target price of $200 by the end of 2030. This implies nearly a 25-fold increase from current levels, which hover around $8 per coin. At the core of this optimistic scenario lies not just speculative momentum, but a deep bet on LINK's fundamental role in the ecosystem of tokenized assets (RWA).
The key thesis is that Chainlink is becoming an indispensable infrastructure layer between the world of traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized protocols. In my assessment, this is exactly the case where the market begins to recognize the real utility value of the project, not just its speculative appeal. The transition of assets to on-chain format requires reliable oracles for external data, secure cross-chain bridges, and compliance tools—and it is precisely here that Chainlink holds a dominant position.
Institutional demand and fee growth
Standard Chartered's Head of Digital Assets Research, Geoff Kendrick, emphasizes that the protocol is the "only end-to-end platform" capable of covering the entire lifecycle of tokenized assets. The bank expects network fee generation to grow approximately 25-fold by the end of the decade. Among the clients and users of Chainlink's services are giants such as SWIFT, DTCC, Euroclear, JPMorgan, Mastercard, UBS, Fidelity, and S&P Global. This is not just a list of names—it is a signal of deep penetration of the technology into the core of the global financial system.
Notably, the volume of RWA on lending platforms and decentralized exchanges has already reached $7.4 billion in the second quarter, more than triple last year's figures ($2.3 billion). These numbers confirm that the tokenization trend not only exists but is gaining momentum, and Chainlink is at the epicenter of this process.
Risks that cannot be ignored
However, any professional forecast must also account for the flip side of the coin. Kendrick highlights three key risks that could hinder the realization of this ambitious scenario:
- A slowdown in the pace of institutional tokenization, which would directly hit demand for the network's services;
- Increased competition from specialized providers that could capture part of the market in specific niches;
- Technical failures or configuration errors that could undermine trust in the platform and its reputation.
My view: the $200 forecast looks ambitious but not fantastical. It is based on real macro trends, not empty promises. However, investors should remember that a 4-year horizon is a very long time for the crypto market, and much can change during that period. The key indicator I will be watching is the speed of adoption of Chainlink's solutions in the real banking sector and the project's ability to maintain technological leadership amid growing competition.
